With great sadness, we say goodbye to our dear colleague and friend Simona Verde, who left us far too soon, at only 43.
Simona was a brilliant and passionate researcher, able to combine skill, curiosity, and dedication. Her work in microwave remote sensing and SAR signal processing contributed in an important way to the growth of IREA and to the safety of the environment and infrastructures. She was appreciated not only for her scientific value, but also for her generosity, her humility, and her gentle way of being with others.
We will remember her for her sweet smile, her bright eyes, and the courage with which she faced her illness, never losing the desire to return to her life and to the people she loved. We will miss her deeply, as a colleague and as a person.
Our warmest thoughts go to her children, her family, and to everyone who loved her.
